INE arch&design is a project that aims to share artistic pieces, that shaped our history, such as buildings, paintings, sculptures and designs to shed light on thier importance and impact on the human race. Throughout the centuries the definition of art has always been debated, and that's the beauty of it: everyone has its unique definition.

The first one to come up with a definition was Plato, who used to think of it as a sort of "mimesis" of nature and reality. In fact for a long time, it has been thought that best art works were the ones that were the most faithful to nature. An artist was someone who had a ton of skills and experience and produced pieces resembling objets and subjects.The height of this was in the Netherlands Golden Age, when painters were allowed to paint in a wide range of genres and supported themselves via their work in the prosperous and vibrant cultural environment of the 17th-century Netherlands.  However at the end of the eighteenth century, with the spread of the Romantic movement, that valued feelings, the sublime and dramatic, expression became very relevant. Artists started to care more about the ripercussions they had on the audience rather than delivering a "perfect" painting  or sculpture. From this moment on art stopped being just a representation of nature or a wagon of emotions, but rather a mixture of both. Just with the advent of cubism, futurism, surrealism and other modern movements the artistic "rules" broke. Art became boundless:

So, is there anything that humans share about art experiences?

Art is one of the numerous ways in which people express themselves and try to make sense of the world around them. From the earliest cave paintings on the Iberian Peninsula to a child's first crayon drawings, people use art to communicate. Visual art explores the emotional and psychological interior worlds of both the creator and the audience, going beyond written and spoken words. Through the expression of shared identity, humans contextualize their experiences and establish connections with others. Through the use of art, these connections and understandings can be fostered, which improves empathy, fosters healthy relationships between people and society, and supports interpersonal relations.
